Three schools serve the area, McAdory Elementary, McAdory Middle School and McAdory High School, home to the Yellow Jackets. Currently, the school has 1652 students, with 202 in the Senior Class.

McCalla is home to Tannehill State park. Along with the Iron and Steel Museum of Alabama, the park features a historic 19th Century blast furnace. There are plenty of things to do at Tannehill. Whether you attend one of the many festivals held through out the year or spend some time reflecting in the slave cemetery, you're sure to find something to enjoy at Tannehill. Two special highlights of the year are the Southern Appalachian Dulcimer Festival and the Down Home Psaltery Festival.
